Students Make A Difference! Compel and Propel!
Students rule! Okay, so maybe not technically, not today. Because if you ruled today, hey, the Michigan Legislature wouldn't be raiding the education fund mid-year and every student in Michigan would be worth EQUAL and SUFFICIENT funding. But one day soon you will have the power to influence the world you inhabit. Practice wielding your power now by taking on our legislators, compelling them with your wit, and win a chance at a fabulous Lollapalloza festival prize package. Even if you don't win, you'll help put City students on the map as future Masters of the Universe.
The City High Middle Legislative Action Committee is hosting a Power Word Cyber Ralley this spring. Here's how it works:
- YOU write an award-winning essay on one of the topics listed below. YOU do the research and think up compelling arguments and elegant solutions. YOU submit a 800 word document as an email attachment to powerword@cityptsa.com by May 30th. powerword@citytpsa.comMake sure we have your name, class, address, phone number and email address. Make sure you cite your sources of information, whether from newspapers, government documents, books or the internet, in APA style.
THE LAC will submit your brilliant work to Jennifer Granholm and the Michigan Legislature. We will publish on our blog (http://www.cityptsa.com) the cream of the crop and invite the public to read your work. We will submit the winning entry for publication to the Grand Rapids Press as an Op-Ed piece. Hey, you could be famous!
The winning essayist will be notified June 15th and award TWO $195 passes to the Lollapalooza festival in Grant Park, Chicago, August 2-5, 2007.
