Legislative Action Committee - Take Action Week
The PTSA Legislative Action committee is asking parents to take action this week on two fronts. First, attend the public interviews of board replacement candidates at the GRPS Franklin Campus Monday, Oct. 29, 6:30 p.m. Second, contact your legislators before the Oct. 31st revised budget deadline to let them know you support tax increases if the money is used to support education and bring underfunded schools up to par with the "2X" formula...the show isn't over yet!

ALSO, there is some pending legislation in regard to the k-12, '07-'08 budget that you should know about. It is referred to as the 2X equity formula and states that the per pupil funding will increase by $48. For those school districts receiving less than $8,385 per pupil (which includes most of West Michigan's Districts), they will get an additional $48. The intention of this equity formula is to eventually have the per pupil funding be the same;equitableif you will, at $8,385, for all Michigan students. Please encourage your legislators to cement this into the k-12 budget!
