Fundraising at City
All Year Long...
City PTSA raises funds throughout the year in a variety of ways. In 2008-2009, we raised more than $13,000 to create a wide range of possibilities for our students: new band and orchestra equipment, sheet music, in-class teaching aids, new media center software, an evening for Senior to remember, many social occasions...the list is long.
We will update this area year-round with current dates in the message center and events calendar, but here's a roundup of our traditional fundraising avenues:
SPRING AUCTION - Held each year in March, the City PTSA Auction regularly generates a large portion of our grant funding ($13,000 last year!) It is also a fun-filled social event where parent and City friends can bid on a wide selection of generously donated goods from City families and local businesses.
How to participate:
1) Solicit/Encourage donations from businesses you frequent. It's tax deductible, great exposure, and an excellent way for local businesses to invest in their future community leaders.
2) Donate your own items: What a great way to reduce, recycle and reuse the clutter in your cupboards, closets or garage. Or create a gift basket that a fellow parent would enjoy!
3) Attend. Attend. Attend. Bring everyone you know for fun-filled hi-jinx and live auction action.
4) Auction Tip: Plan your winning auction strategy early! Look at the 2010 ONLINE CATALOG to see what kinds of items may be available at the City High/Middle Auction. Items will be added weekly so be sure to check back often.

City H/M Scrip Program - Imagine a percentage of everything you spend from gasoline to groceries going to the City Band and Orchestra, the City Drama, Forensics & Debate program.... or the PTSA general fund! That is pretty much how the scrip program works. Each week, you can pre-fund a cash card for participating local and national businesses that will give back 2-15% of the proceeds. Download and fill out the form and drop it off at school each Thursday afternoon. The form can be downloaded (click here), or better yet, order your scrip on-line at shopwithscrip.com (enrollment code 697E21444219), and even pay on line with Presto-Pay. Your cards will be ready the following week. Your earnings may be designated to benefit CBOP, the Drama/Forensics/Debate program or general PTSA fund.

Meijer Community Rewards: This program is as easy as the swipe of a card each time you shop at Meijer. City has 2 accounts with this program, one specifically for parents who want to support the City Band & Orchestra program, and one for General School Assistance. Click the link on the sidebar to enroll and watch 1% of every dollar you spend accrue to City's benefit. Meijer will send you weekly email updates so you can watch the City fund grow! Just think, if all 650 City Families swiped on $800 worth of groceries each month, how much money this program could generate! Don't wait. Make it happen!
General Fundraising - Other fundraising programs include fabulous food sales from our premium vendors such as Ada Meats, a regular supporter of Senior Grad Night, incredible Cheesecakes, flowers and more.
