Volunteers

Each of us is engaged in a busy life, but most of us benefit from stretching ourselves a little to contribute to City High/Middle. It's a great way to make new friends, get to know staff, and make a difference for our kids.

We promise not to "stalk" you for help and to provide risk-free opportunities to give of your time in a way that suits your abilities and availability. So be not afraid: Volunteer!

Ideas: Maybe you can drive a van load of instruments to band festival, but can't get free to chaperone a dance. Maybe you can write letters for the auction committee, but can't get free to collect the items. Maybe you have experience in legislative issues, but can't get away to go to Lansing .For each little piece of the load you can carry, the load is made lighter. Together, we can carry it all.

Please sign up for our volunteer roster, knowing that an occasional "no" is better than not being permitted to ask!

To get involved, click here for a current contact list, check the "volunteer roles" list in right sidebar for more information, or email our President.

Here are some specific ways you can help out, supplied by committee chairs. These listings will also be found in the MESSAGE CENTER:

CBOP - City Band/Orchestra Parents
Description: The band booster group for City. We raise funds for the program's needs that are not funded by the district. We offer logistical support to both band and orchestra for instrument transportation, care of band uniforms, and what ever else the directors request. The scrip program is the biggest fund raiser we have.
We need people to participate in the scrip program to continue helping raise funds. We need people to come to the concerts, festivals, and other performances to show support for the programs.
To help: contact  Marissa Gonzalez at 534-3190, marissa.gonzalez@sbcglobal.net

Exam Week Snacks
We distribute snacks to the students during the week of exams for each semester.
We need people to contribute water, juice boxes, and snacks foods for distribution. We also need a few parents to work in the distribution process each morning. Three to four parents per morning are needed.
To help: contact Exam Snack Coorinator, Deena Cook at 453-5251,  brcooker@hotmail.com

SCRIP Program
Description: A fund-raiser for the CBOP program, Drama/Forensics program, Senior Grad-Night Party as well as the general fund. We raise funds through the sale of gift certificates to area vendors. There are various businesses that participate and the certificates are sold at face value. The vendors give us back a rebate of varying percentages. That is the profit for the program. We need many people to participate in the program by buying your favorite products through scrip.  This program gets better and better with more and more participants!  Whether you plan it into your family budget or just choose a product or two, consider using scrip before buying.

We also need people to help run the program. We can use order takers for the afternoon and the evening shifts on Thursdays.
To help: contact Bonnie Czuhajewski at 575-8545, bonnie.czu@gmail.com.

Pitching in for 2009-10!

Our school asks all parents to volunteer 10 hours a year to help keep City in premier shape.  To find ways to meet this goal, download the Volunteer Roles List, look over what you have talents for or a desire to do, and contact any of the leaders or Chairpersons listed there.  If you would rather "sign-up" on our PTSA form, download the PTSA Application Form , fill it out and be sure to list your Volunteer preferences.  E-mail the form to the PTSA Membership Chair or submit to the City High offices.

GRPS also asks that volunteers at our school fill out a GRPS Volunteer Form.  This form should be filled out completely and returned to City High/Middle offices or GRPS offices on Frankllin Street.  This form certifies safe access to our schools for volunteers.  Don't forget to pick up and wear your badge once it arrives!
